Colitis or diverticulitis? Follow your gut.
Colitis and diverticulitis are both inflammations of the intestines. They have similar sympotoms but colitis is more severe. It’s best not to self diagnose this one so see a medical professional if the following seems familiar.
The abdominal pain caused by these may be constant or fluctuate. Colitis feels like the entire area while diverticulitis concentrates in the left. Bloating is another common symptom, feeling as if air is in your bowels. Diarrhea, bloody stool, fever, chills, dehydration, and nausea are other reported symptoms.
Basically, it sucks. The medical profession shrugs their shoulders at the exact cause of this problem, though many believe that low-fiber diets can play a role in at least exacerbating the issues. Highly refined, processed foods or lack of water (instead of soda) will make it worse. As with many other blog posts before, we’re back to the same point- eat better!
Colitis and diverticulitis may very well be caused by genetic issues but there’s no ruling out that the American diet has not caused some either. God made our bodies to process breads, fruits, vegetables, and meat (in measure not mass). Our bodies were not designed to eat chemically enhanced and processed foods and some intestines are not as hardy to take the abuse.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, you may have colitis and diverticulitis. Consult a doctor if they persist but here’s our advice. First, eat higher fiber and less processed foods. Second, take MSM+C. It will reduce your intestinal inflammation, allowing your body to pump in its healing elements. Third, take our PH Plus to decrease your body’s acidity. Not to scare you but processed foods are highly acidic (processed basically means predigested and preserved). High acidic levels will damage your intestines. Fourth, we have some priobiotics and enzymes available to supplement these positive gains and assist in healthier digestion.
If you eat something and your stomach feels upset, take that as a hint- Follow your gut!
