Irritable Bowel Syndrome!
What is it?
The walls of your intestines are layers of muscle that contract and relax at a regular pace to move food from your stomach throughout your intestinal tract and all the way to the bathroom. If you have irritable bowel syndrome, these contractions might be too stronge and last longer than they should. This irregular rhythm can cause gas, bloating and diarrhea.
What causes it?
Biologically, an abnormality in your gastrointestinal nervous system may cause you to experience discomfort when your intestines stretch from waste processing. Badly communicated signals between the brain and the intestines can cause your body overreact to the changes in an otherwise normal digestive process.
Other causes may include food allergies, stress, hormones, or other illness. But the cause that is most likely a contributor to many people’s discomfort is diet. Gallons of sugary water, highly processed box and can food, simmered greasy fast food, sticky candy, alcohol and cigarettes: these are major contributors to upset stomachs. Notice I didn’t say IBS.
Because most people don’t have IBS! At least not the debilitating, possibly hereditary kind that some experience. Those who have full blown cases of IBS probably do need medical help. But most of us have what I like to call voluntary IBS.
How do I stop it?
The human body was not made to consume the gross, before-mentioned foods and substances. It’s like putting diesel in a gas engine and expecting it to work fine. Change your diet and exercise! Do activities that reduce your stress.
Additional help while you calm your tummy is available at NHC. To reduce inflammation and contractions, we suggest MSM+C as sulfur can help calm your intestinal nerves. PH Plus will balance out your body’s acidity. We also carry probiotics and digestive enzymes to help your body balance out other chemicals.
Stomach issues can be resolved. We’ve even had people diagnosed with IBS reduce or even lose their symptoms after using a daily regimen of our products. God bless!
