There Won’t Be a Cure
Because they don’t want a cure. What’s the profit in good health? How do you fill hospitals if people aren’t sick? How do you bill insurance if no one needs it? How do you pay doctors and hospital CEOs millions with a cure? You don’t because they don’t want a cure.
The FDA is a business. It has employees. It has goals. It has backers. It’s original intentions were good. In the 1930s, several drugs on the market had killed people. On drug used diethylene glycol to dissolve the medicine into liquid form. Due to this concoction, over 100 people died. This wasn’t the first time so it became obvious that something needed to be done.
As with most government programs, it grew far past the original intent and is in many ways a governing body of its own with very few people to answer to. The cost of developing medicine has become astronomical. The FDA now requires 3 clinical tests that cost about $100 million each and the average new drug costs a total of $2.6 Billion. Do you know what I call that? Barrier to entry.
The FDA has full power to invoke fines, confiscate property, and even imprison people. There’s very few agencies besides the FBI and CIA that can do such things.
Money trails? More like money highways! In a recent three year period, drug companies spent $487 million in lobbying and insurance companies spent $480 million. Do you think anyone in those groups were lobbying for a cure?
In a business as small as NHC which serves only a few thousand per year (we’d love your help growing that) I’ve had more than my fair share of run-ins with the FDA. They are hawks and will pounce on anyone that steps out of the line, even if it’s in a positive direction.
Yes, the odds do sound like they are stacked against us but there’s plenty of hope folks. Supplementation and good diet can do wonders for your body.
